Who is Dr Katie Irvine?
Katie is the Communications Lead for TERN Ecosystem Surveillance. Katie works with the TERN team to engage and collaborate with researchers, land managers and volunteers from industry, government, academia and community to deliver environmental monitoring projects. Katie’s background is in rainforest ecology, marine ecotourism and citizen science, and she is currently Vice-chair of the Australian Citizen Science Association (ACSA) South Australian Chapter.

Who is TERN?
TERN is Australia’s ecosystem research infrastructure, conducting field surveys and sampling across a national network of plots to provide the environmental monitoring data, samples, advice and terrestrial ecosystem mapping needed for improved monitoring and assessment of Australia’s major ecosystems.

Who is Dr Donna Lewis?
Dr Donna Lewis is the Curation Lead for TERN Ecosystem Surveillance, responsible for enhancing the management of TERN's digital and physical TERN Australia Soil and Herbarium Collection, along with its associated contextual data. Working closely with the Data and Curation team, Dr Lewis ensures the collection is well curated, discoverable, and accessible to researchers for a wide range of scientific studies. She has over 20 years of experience in botany, collection management, vegetation classification, and remote sensing. She also has a strong track record of promoting collaborative approaches to the collaborative approaches to the collection of standardised field metrics.

She also serves as the Northern Territory Ambassador for TERN, is Chair of the Vegetation Classification Special Interest Network within the Ecological Society of Australia (ESA), and is a member of the STEM Women Global Network.
